Christmas Shopping at the BBC Good Food Show

Katy Truss • Nov 27, 2019

The BBC Good Food Show Winter is the perfect place to get things ticked off your Christmas shopping list. Whether it's food for the festive period, gifts for food lovers or something to treat yourself to, there's so much fabulous food and drink at the show.

The Food Champions area, which we manage, is the destination within the show to find outstanding, independent producers. I'll be doing most of my shopping here, so thought I'd share my list with you!

  • Smoked salmon from The Pished Fish - it's thick-sliced like sashimi for a buttery mouthfeel and is infused with alcohol and other botanicals to create something extraordinary.
  • Honey - I'll be picking up a Festive Honey from Black Bee Honey, from bees foraging on Ivy which has an unusual icy mouth feel, along with a Gingerbread spiced honey from The Edinburgh Honey Co.
  • Chocolates from Lauden look and taste amazing, so I'll be purchasing some selection boxes as gifts for friends.
  • One of the best gifts for foodies to buy at the show is seasoning from BoTree farm; the salted pepper berries are exciting bursts of peppery flavour and heat. One of their grinders is on my Christmas wish list!
  • I'll get a pack of Lakeland Mues artisan toasted muesli for some special, but healthy, breakfasts over the festive period.
  • For all my cheese needs I'll see Enrico at Heritage Cheese who has a collection of the most amazing artisan cheeses. They won Slow Food UK's cheesemonger of the year award and really do have the BEST cheeses.
  • Urban Herbs have an awesome new voucher system to buy someone a living herb garden, they can choose the month they receive it and the herbs they'd like in it. Andy is so passionate about his herbs so I can't wait for him to tell me more about it and I may have to buy one of their brilliant chilli lovers gift boxes too.
  • New producers at the show this year include Dough it Yourself pizza bases (including gluten free), Pure Punjabi spice pastes and kits, Screaming Chimp chilli sauces and Two Farmers with their delicious crisps in compostable packaging.
I can't wait to be there looking after all these fabulous producers. I'll share my finds after the show too!
