The Ludlow Food Festival is probably one of the most successful regional food festivals in the UK. The organiser’s strict policy to ensure all exhibitors are from the Ludlow Marches area means you are sure to find genuine local produce and meet passionate artisans from the area. As suggested in my previous post, the passion for food that shines through in the town is what, I believe, makes the Ludlow Food Festival the huge success that it is.
The BBC Good Food Show (where I work) has a partnership with the Festival which means we welcome Ludlow and its producers to our show, and in turn they kindly provide us with a chance to take a stand at the festival. We use the opportunity to meet new and loyal visitors and get to know the local producers and foodies better too.
I’m going to take you on a quick tour of my favourite food finds and some of the excellent entertainment on offer at the festival.
The most beautiful looking goat’s cheese I have ever seen from Brock Hall Farm Dairy.
Bacheldre Watermill and their range of stone ground flours, artisan bread mixes and freshly baked loaves of wholemeal bread.
Ludlow was the place I first met The Handmade Scotch Egg Company , and I’ve enjoyed their eggs ever since. My current favourite is the double trouble – free range pork with garlic and tarragon encasing a pickled shallot, a refreshing change from the usual egg.
A pretty, tempting jar of Shropshire Granola.
Lunching on a druid tractor wheel pie from Orchard Pigs – really delicious firm, meaty filling with perfect pastry.
A rainbow of chutney and jams from Heather’s Harvest.
