The Fabulous Food Finds Tasting Theatre had it's first outing at the BBC Good Food Show Summer and I think it's safe to say it was a sell out success! Here is a quick run through of the fabulous food and drink producers and products that featured in the Coffee, Cheese and Spice and Seasoning Sessions.
It was amazing to have the brilliant Andreas Constantinou from Adams and Russell Coffee Roasters to guide us through three of their fantastic coffees at the show. We learnt lots about how to brew coffee at home and how the country of origin has an impact on the flavour of the coffee. Here are the details of the coffees that we tasted:
FAIRTRADE NICARAGUA WOMEN’S CO-OPERATIVE
About: This Fairtrade coffee is grown and produced exclusively by women in the region
of Jinotega, Nicaragua. Upon meeting certain quality standards, they receive a premium.
This assists the women in obtaining legal title to their land and permitting a better quality
of life for them, their families and in turn- the community as a whole.
We think the taste of this coffee is as special as the women behind it. What’s also incredibly
special is that it achieved an SCA score of 83.
Expect: Dark chocolate, caramel, dry roasted peanuts
Country: Nicaragua
Region: Jinotega
Process: Washed
Elevation: 1200M
FAROS ESPRESSO (3 Star Great Taste Award 2021)
About: Exclusively blended by our SCA registered barista- Andreas, Faros is a love
letter to his Greek heritage. He’s taken our Award Winning Single Plantation coffees from
Rwanda, Brazil and Ethiopia and created a blend that’s complex, smooth and crisp. This
blend is unique and a coffee worth paying attnetion to.
It speaks not only to the Adams + Russell brand, but the important people behind it.
Expect: Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla
Process: Semi-washed / Washed
INDONESIA JAVA
About: The secret to this amazing Indonesian coffee is the rich, volcanic soil in which it’s
grown. At an elevation of 1400M on the side of the Ijen volcano complex; the nutrient-
dense soil, heavy shading and stable, cool temperatures create an optimal coffee growing
environment that allows the coffee cherry to ripen slowly and develop complex flavours.
Expect: Tobacco, Dark cocoa, Earthy
Country: Indonesia
Region: Java
Process: Washed
Elevation: 1400M
