Meet Katy Truss - Food Finder, Feeder and Founder of Fabulous Food Finds

I'm Katy and I love all things food - shopping for it, cooking it, the makers and their stories, writing about it, reading about it, talking about it and of course I love eating it!

I LOVE discovering new food and drink products and producers and sharing them on this website, on social media and in real life at events like the BBC Good Food Show. I love to help start-ups and growing food and drink businesses by sharing opportunities and connecting people too.

I live by the sea in North Norfolk with my partner Jamie Brown and two kids, Lottie (7) and Alfie (6) and aside from food I love Snowboarding, occasional running, reading, sunsets and sunrise.

Background

As a daughter of a chef growing up in my parents' pubs and restaurants, I was destined for a life in food, although I knew I couldn't take the heat of a busy restaurant kitchen.

I studied Business and Marketing at the Nottingham Trent University, which included a year with IBM's Business Consulting Services. After a season in the French Alps, I eventually landed a dream job developing the speciality food content for the BBC Good Food Shows. I met and spoke to hundreds of incredible producers daily, visited international food shows and festivals and of course, also got to taste too!

I formed strong relationships with food groups like Slow Food and the Guild of Fine Food and got to know the artisan food industry really well.

I began writing my own blog and started judging for awards like the Great Taste Awards; becoming known for my expertise in the area of artisan and speciality food.

Moving out of London and setting up Fabulous Food Finds

In 2013 I took a big life step and moved out of London back home to the seaside in North Norfolk where I set up Fabulous Food Finds as a way for me to share all the fantastic food and drink producers that I discover. I still consult for the BBC Good Food Shows and project manage the Food Champions area of the show for small producers. I wrote a column highlighting small producers in BBC Good Food Magazine and  reviews for BBCGoodFood.com too.

Hosting and Presenting at the BBC Good Food Show

I currently plan, curate, manage and host a live theatre at the BBC Good Food Show Summer and Winter at the NEC. The Fabulous Food Finds Tasting Theatre at the BBC Good Food Show is a sell-out 50 seat theatre at the show which introduces foodies to fabulous food and drink products and producers.

Virtual Tasting Experiences and Launching the Tasting Box

Last year I launched the Fabulous Food Finds Tasting Box Subscription, which is growing every day. I send out quarterly boxes to subscribers and host an online guided tasting where I talk through the products and introduce some of the makers too.
