Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival – Best Bits

Although the restaurants at Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival were awesome, I realised while writing this second post that what I liked most about it were the other bits! A mini farmers market, Mussel Men, giant fruit on forks, the WI, sparkly brownies, music, crumpets and strumpets!

We checked out the Mussel Men…

What an awesome idea for street food! Pots of Mussels, Moules Frites, Oysters or Seafood Chowder all served by ‘musselly men’!

So I really like the quirky look of the giant strawberry, and the giant apple, on the end of giant forks… but really, does anyone actually eat strawberries or apples with forks?! Anyone? (I’m showing my pedantic side now, sorry.)

We found the Giant Robot lounge too late on in the day, not realising that our gold wristbands gained us entry into what I think was the VIP area of the show. We stopped for a quick glass of Cava, did some people watching then went off to explore some more.

Within the über cool Women’s Institute tent was Stacie Stewart’s Beehive Bakery. Unfortunately Stacie wasn’t there but her brownies looked awesome – rich chocolate, pecan nut, gluten-free, snickers and…

…Sparkly Smartie Glitter Brownies!

Then I find Gizzy Erskine (looking beautiful) giving top tips for healthy eating… Eek! Better give the rest of the brownies to the boyfriend.

I then saw one of the best things at the festival – Strumpets with Crumpets !

Unfortunately I couldn’t eat another thing, but I thought this ‘crumpet bar’ looked brilliant! Check out the delicious crumpet toppings on the menu below – I would have gone for the Westcombe Cheddar with Chorizo, followed by the Cream Tea Crumpet, followed by Plum Jam and Creme Fraiche… I could go on. My mouth is watering just thinking about them!

What a Big Feastival! It was a really lovely day out so thank you Mr Oliver and your team for putting on a great event!
